Feedback that stays attached to the page
Comments in a separate email or message are easy to misread: “fix the second paragraph” — which page, which paragraph? Marking the PDF itself ties each comment to the exact spot it refers to. Annotate PDF is built for review: highlight what matters and attach a comment where it is needed.
Highlights and comment notes
Choose the highlight tool and drag a rectangle over the area to mark, or choose the note tool and click where a comment should go and type your text. Five colors are available, so different reviewers or kinds of feedback can be told apart. Highlights are placed by dragging over the page area rather than by selecting words, so drag to cover the passage you want.
Real PDF annotations
The marks are saved as standard PDF annotations, not painted onto the page. In readers that support annotations — Adobe Acrobat, Preview, many browsers and phone apps — highlights show as translucent color and notes appear as small comment icons that open to show your text. Because they are real annotations, they can usually be moved, edited, or deleted in those readers, and the underlying page content is not changed.
Annotating happens in your browser, so the document is not uploaded.
Choosing between Annotate and Edit PDF
Use Annotate PDF for review comments that others can read and edit. Use Edit PDF when you want marks burned into the page — typed text, freehand drawing, shapes, arrows, or images — which every viewer shows the same way but which cannot be changed afterwards. Keep your original file so you can start again from a clean copy.
