Reading a lengthy report or contract just to find the main points can take far longer than the information is worth. PDF Studio’s AI Summarizer reads the text of your document (up to about 30,000 characters) and produces a concise summary — brief, detailed, or as bullet-pointed key points — so you get the substance in a fraction of the time.

How to Use AI Summarizer

  1. 1

Upload the PDF you want summarized.

  2. 2

Choose a summary style — brief, detailed, or key points — and output format.

  3. 3

Generate the summary and read or copy the result.

When a summary saves time

Reports, papers, contracts, and meeting notes are often far longer than the decision they support. A good summary lets you decide whether a document deserves a full read, brief someone else, or revisit what a long file said without re-reading it. AI Summarizer produces that first-pass summary in seconds.

Summary types and formats

Choose a summary type: Brief (two or three short paragraphs), Key Points (the most important points, concisely listed), or Detailed (a comprehensive summary of topics, arguments, and conclusions). Then choose whether the result is written as flowing paragraphs or as bullet points. Pick Brief when triaging many documents, and Detailed when the summary will stand in for a read-through.

How it works and where your text goes

Your browser extracts the text from the PDF, and only that text — not the PDF file itself — is sent to our server, which passes it to an AI language model to write the summary. PDF Studio does not keep a copy of the text, but the AI service processes it, so avoid summarizing documents containing information you must not share with a third-party service. The tool is limited to 10 requests per minute per visitor.

Scanned PDFs have no text to extract; run OCR PDF first.

Limits and checking the result

About the first 30,000 characters of text (roughly 5,000 words) are summarized; anything after that is ignored, so for a long document split it with Split PDF and summarize the parts. AI summaries can omit important caveats, flatten nuance, or occasionally state something the document does not say, so treat the summary as a guide to the document, not a replacement for it — especially for contracts, medical, financial, or legal material.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can AI summarize a PDF?

Yes. PDF Studio extracts the text of your PDF in your browser and sends that text to an AI language model, which writes the summary. AI summaries can miss nuance or contain mistakes, so check anything important against the original.

What languages does the AI summarizer support?

It works with many languages and generally replies in the language of the document, though quality is best in widely used languages.

How long can the source document be?

About the first 30,000 characters of text (roughly 5,000 words) are used. Anything beyond that is not included, so split a long document and summarize the parts separately.

Can I choose between a short and a detailed summary?

Yes, pick from brief, detailed, or key-points formats depending on how much depth you need.

Is my PDF uploaded to summarize it?

Not the file. Your browser extracts the text, and only that text is sent to our server and then to an AI model. PDF Studio does not keep a copy, but the AI service processes the text.

How much of a long document is summarized?

About the first 30,000 characters (roughly 5,000 words). Split longer documents and summarize the parts separately.

Can I rely on the summary for legal or medical documents?

No. AI summaries can miss caveats or make mistakes. Use them as a guide and read the original for anything important.

Why does it say I have made too many requests?

Each tool allows 10 requests per minute per visitor. Wait a minute and try again.
