Why WebP
WebP is an image format developed by Google that usually produces noticeably smaller files than JPG at similar visual quality, and it supports transparency like PNG. Smaller images load faster on websites and in apps, which helps both visitors and search rankings, so WebP is a common choice for web graphics.
How PDF Studio converts pages
Each page of your PDF is drawn at twice its normal size in your browser and saved as a WebP image at 90% quality. Doubling the size keeps small text readable when the image is viewed at full size, and the 90% setting is a good balance between sharpness and file size. You get one WebP file per page, named after your PDF with the page number added (for example report_page_3.webp), and a Download All button.
The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF is not uploaded.
WebP, JPG, or PNG?
Use WebP for websites and apps, where smaller files matter and every modern browser supports it. Use JPG, with PDF to JPG, when the images must open in older software, email clients, or print workflows that do not understand WebP. Because a WebP page is a flat picture, its text cannot be selected or searched, so keep the PDF as well if you need the text.
Tips
If you only need some pages, convert the document and download only those files, or extract the pages first with Extract Pages. For web use you can scale the images down further in an image editor. If you need the pictures that are embedded in the PDF rather than whole pages, use Extract Images.
